Musicians, venues, bookstores and makers

A for-profit that takes contributions?

People who love what you do want to back it. Donorly takes their contributions, runs your memberships, sells at your table and keeps your own rolodex of every supporter, with reminders to stay in touch. Even though you're a business, not a nonprofit.

Who is this for?

  • Musicians and bands

Fans drop into your online tip jar after a show, back the next album or join your supporters' club.

  • Venues that host musicians

Patrons help keep live music coming, buy memberships and pay at the door or the bar, all in one place for every show you host.

  • Bookstores

Regulars support the store they love, join a reader membership and buy at the counter.

  • Studios, galleries and makers

Collectors and students contribute, become members and buy at your table.

What happens when a fan chips in?

  1. 1

    Share it

    • A contribution page or tip jar in minutes

Your logo, one picture and a short paragraph, and your online tip jar is taking contributions.

    • At the door and the merch table

Print a QR sign. Fans scan it and give on their own phone.

    • On your own website

Put the page on your site so fans never leave you.

  2. 2

    They contribute

    • One tap

Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card, once or every month.

    • They can cover the fees

Fans can add the processing fee so you keep the full amount. Nothing is pre-ticked.

    • Your money, straight to your account

Paid into your own Stripe account, on Stripe's schedule, as often as every day.

  3. 3

    They join

    • Memberships and fan clubs

Tiers and member cards by email. Memberships expire on their own date, and members get a reminder before they do.

    • Sales at the table

Merch, books or tickets with Scan to Pay, sales tax on its own line, cash handled.

  4. 4

    You keep them close

    • A thank-you, not a tax receipt

Contributions to a business aren't tax-deductible, so supporters get a plain thank-you and payment receipt.

    • Your own rolodex

Every fan, member, contributor and buyer in one list that's yours, with their history on one timeline.

    • Reminders to keep in touch

Log a call or a message, set the next step, and Donorly reminds you when it's due, in your calendar too.

Questions we hear

Can a for-profit business use Donorly?+

Yes. Musicians, venues, bookstores, studios and makers use the same contribution pages, memberships and sales as nonprofits.

Are contributions to us tax-deductible?+

No. Contributions to a for-profit business aren't charitable donations, so Donorly sends supporters a thank-you and payment receipt, never a donation receipt. Ask your accountant how to report them.

Where does the money go?+

Straight to your own Stripe account. Payouts arrive on the schedule you set with Stripe, as often as every day.

Do our fans pay a tip to Donorly?+

No. Nothing is pre-selected at checkout. See are "free" CRMs really free?.
